Scott Beckett M.Div., Student Minister
Scott is a new addition of Trinity United in the role of student minister until May 2019. Born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, Scott was a lifelong member of First United Church in the neighbourhood of Port Credit. He comes from three generations of Welsh organists including his mother. Because of this musical tradition, Scott grew up singing in church choirs and came away with a love of his community which opened the door for his call to ministry.
Scott earned his Bachelor’s degree at Western in History and Creative Writing. Among his activities there was helping to launch the Student Writer In Residence program. As the second person ever to hold the position, he had the opportunity to have a core role in the university’s writing community and work with several people from London and beyond.
Scott completed the Master of Divinity at Emmanuel College in the spring of 2018, where he sat on the Student Society as secretary and co-chair of the Anti-Oppression Committee. His internship at Trinity is the last step before ordination with the United Church of Canada.
