POVERTY LEADS TO HOMELESSNESS
This week, a glaring, “in-your-face” spotlight is aimed at the often-ignored fact that poverty and homelessness exists in Lincoln, Ontario.
Not often thought of as a problem in this rural-turning-urban section of Southern Ontario, poverty and sub-sequentially homelessness, is rising and the needs of people seeking assistance with basic life essentials has never been this high.
Which is where a member of the congregation
has stepped in with what they hope
is a very bright spotlight.
Assuming the role of a fifty-something woman who has lost her job,
has couch surfed away all of her friends, is now homeless,
and is sleeping in a tent.
This woman will spend a week living in her tent,
and around the community, trying to stay warm, dry, fed, and healthy,
while navigating whatever help she can find in the town of Beamsville.
